In 1967 the modern building of the Concert Hall on Lenin Street, 27A, where the Omsk Philharmonic Society is now situated, was built under the project of Albert Karimov, the main architect of Omsk city. Nowadays the Concert Hall is one of the most prestigious concert platforms of the city with the best acoustic opportunities, seating the record amount of spectator places - 1200. Initially, the Concert Hall was planned to be a cinema which had the biggest screen in the city, i.e. the hall was intended to be not only for concert performances.
The stage of the Concert Hall became a real home for the glorified collectives of the Philharmonic society, known far outside our city, such, as the Omsk Siberian Symphony orchestra, the State Omsk Ensemble of singing and dancing, the Omsk Chamber orchestra, and also for performances of Concert Brass orchestra, an Orchestra of popular and jazz music "Kvadrat", soloists of a Philharmonic society, which cought the fancy of Omsk citizens.
Often visitors of the Concert Hall are stars of a world stage. The glorified academic musicians - M.Rostropovich, Y.Bashmet, V.Spivakov, D.Khvorostovsky, as well as representatives of a modern music - like A.Pugacheva, V.Leontjev, B.Moiseyev, L.Dolina and many, many others worked here.
The Concert Hall is a suitable place for carrying out solemn events, corporate evenings, different congresses and conferences.
Today there is a question about restoration of a cinema in the Concert Hall, so in the foreseeable future Omsk citizens will have an opportunity not only to listen to music in this hall, but also to watch movies. |
